Revisionist Tale is Latest Liberated Muse Publication
Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman
introduces her first chapbook,
Revisionist Tale
(Liberated Muse Publications 2010), which is a collection of writings written from 2001-2010, inspired by her work as an educator, life as womanist and mother and observations of the people around her.
The title of the chapbook comes from the poem "revisionist tale" that Khadijah wrote in 2007 about her new life as a mother in her 30's-- tiring and overwhelming, albeit happy, as it is.
The 52- page chapbook features poems and short stories by Khadijah that have appeared in publications over the years, including her poem "seeds of the middle passage" which appeared in the anthology
Friends I've Never Met
, edited by Vanessa Hairfield (ILP, 2001), three of her ten-sentence short stories she contributed to the book
Pen Ten Scribes
, edited by Rhonda Smolarek (LuLu, 2010) and her poem "Wee Women" that was featured in last year's release
Liberated Muse Volume I: How I Freed My Soul
(Outskirts Press, 2009). Two poems by Khadijah performed in 2008 and 2009 performances of
The Saartjie Project
's stage performance "Deconstructing the Myth of the Booty" are also featured in the chapbook.
Khadijah will be selling her chapbook at her upcoming appearances and performances, along with a CD of recordings for the holiday season. Please check her
calendar
